My Story

Dr. Kevin CampbellI was born and raised in North Carolina and received myundergraduate degree from North
Carolina State University and graduated valedictorian in 1992. I attended medical school at Wake Forest University and graduated at the top of my class in 1996. I then trained in Internal Medicine and completed my Internship and Residency at the University of Virginia in 1999. From there, I had the opportunity to train with some of the finest cardiologists in the world and completed fellowships in both Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at Duke University.

Upon completion of my training I was recruited to join Wake Heart and Vascular (WHV) in 2003 and became partner in 2006. I have an academic appointment (Assistant Professor of Medicine) at the UNC School of Medicine. I practice Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology in Raleigh, Smithfield and Wilson, North Carolina.

Although I treat all aspects of cardiovascular disease, I specialize in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders, including supraventricular and ventricular tachycardias as well as sudden cardiac death. I have been fortunate to achieve recognition as a national expert in the implantation of Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators and Cardiac Resynchronization Devices. Beyond device implantation, I also perform Electrophysiology studies (EPS) and radiofrequency ablations.

Dr. Kevin CampbellMy passion for “serving the underserved” led to my initiative to address disparities in cardiovascular care between men and women. Data have demonstrated over the last 20 years that in the US women are more likely to die from cardiovascular disease than men. Interestingly, more men than women are aggressively treated. This information led me to develop relationships with OB/GYN MDs and other women’s health care professionals in order to address this growing public health problem.

Dr Campbell currently resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife Deborah (also a physician) and daughter Rebecca. In his limited spare time, Dr Campbell enjoys golfing, attending sporting events and spending time on the beautiful North Carolina coastline.

I treat each patient as an individual and work to cater therapy to each patient’s particular needs and disease process. It is my hope that I can get to know each patient and their families and develop long lasting relationships.
